Although, coffee is a type of drink that can be drunk hot or cold it is one of the most consumed drink in the world. Coffee is mainly made from the seeds from the coffee tree (also known as the coffee bean). The coffee bean itself is grown and cultivated in the coffee plant in over 70 countries. Although, when you see your coffee in roasted beans ready for you to make there is a process because, the beans itself from the coffee trees are green.
So, the general process to get coffee to you from the coffee plant can be a long process because, it sometimes takes up to two weeks to go through this process to get to your drink. The first step of it is getting the coffee beans and sorting them to get ready to go through the process because it takes a skilled person the get the bean ready from the coffee plant. Then they are ether packed to go to plants in the world or they go to local plants to get roasted. During the roasting process the bean decreases in weight due to the moisture is lost and the bean becomes denser which influences the coffee. Then after the roasting the beans are graded on colour and then labeled as light, medium light, medium, medium dark, dark, or very dark.
Then the beans are packed and then shipped out to you. But, during that time they must be stored properly to preserve the fresh taste of the bean. Therefore, the container must be airtight and kept in a cool, dry, dark place because air, moisture, heat, and light are the responsible factors for deteriorating flavor in coffee. Also, most coffee’s that are packaged is 90% of the air is removed because, of the factors for deteriorating coffee flavor and to have the coffee stored longer until the packaging is opened.
